About me and my therapy practice
I offer on-line or telephone counselling sessions, whichever suits you best. I am insured to work with clients both in the UK and worldwide.
In my extensive experience as an on-line/telephone counsellor, I have found that both virtual and telephone therapy offer many advantages. In particular, clients are able to have sessions from the comfort of their own home, other chosen space or when travelling away from home. As a counsellor, working on-line or by telephone enables me to be more accommodating with appointment times and availability.
You may be seeking counselling because of recent challenging issues or as a result of distressing experiences from a long time ago. It could be that you have reached a crossroads in your life and are not feeling as confident or self-assured as you would like in the decisions you are making.
Sometimes people come into therapy simply because they are emotionally/psychologically overwhelmed or burnt-out and can't find a way through on their own. Grief, loss and bereavement also often bring people into counselling, so that they can recover at their own pace. Clients tell me that they appreciate my warm, honest approach which helps them to feel heard and understood.
Practice description
I had the priviledge of training at the Iron Mill College in Exeter, qualifying as an integrative humanistic counsellor in 2010. This means that I have a rich and varied way of working that allows me to adapt to what a client needs. Since then I have been a counsellor to hundreds of clients of all ages and genders in various therapeutic settings.
As a counsellor I provide a genuine, respectful and collaborative space for us to reflect on and explore what you are going through, so that you can navigate a way forward on your own terms. A safe therapeutic space allows us to speak in depth, openly and without judgement, to help you find the personal insight and clarity of mind necessary to heal and grow.
Psycho-education is also something I encourage in my clients, so that they can truly understand themselves. Self-compassion is a huge part of this process and something I help clients to recognise and nurture in their lives.
My first session
I offer an initial 30-minute appointment, free-of-charge, to enable us to talk through your needs and what you can expect from counselling with me. It is an opportunity for you to ask any questions you might have about therapy or about my practice.
I will ask for some background of your situation, whatever you feel I need to know, so that I can get a sense of how we might work together. That way you can decide if you would like to go ahead with sessions or not.
I look forward to meeting you.
